Gateway Guidance

Schools and colleges need to be approved before they can teach the new Diploma qualifications.

To do this a partnership of schools, colleges and employers, known as a consortium apply to the Diploma Gateway by completing Self Assessment documentation.

The Self Assessment documentation focuses on the summary proposal, facilities, workforce and employer support.

In order to prepare for this Self Assessment documentation consortium may find it helpful to prepare a Development Plan which includes:

Anticipated requirements for successful delivery of the Diploma in terms of:

  • Facilities
  • Workforce
  • Employer Support
  • Teaching learning resources/support materials
  • A gap analysis of anticipated requirements against current position.
  • An action plan to bridge the gap that identifies external dependencies.
  • An identified primary contact point for the partnership in terms of delivery and IAG.

More detailed information on the Gateway, can be found at www.dfes.gov.uk/14-19/. This explains how the process will work, and how schools, colleges and others can express an interest in taking part.

Please read the specific Gateway guidance document below for the Diploma in Construction & the Built Environment. It will help Consortia completing the Self Assessment documentation as part of Gateway process.
